Randy's Take - Equifax
Equifax
has been around since 1899. Originally called Retail Credit Company, it changed its name in 1975 and has expanded its offerings to consumers dramatically over the past 10 years. Their credit monitoring program provides customizable alerts to keep you on top of changes and additions to your credit file. You can be confident in the services Equifax offers.Randy's Take - ConsumerInfo.com
ConsumerInfo.com
is an Experian company. Experian is the largest of the big three credit history companies with more than $3 billion in revenues in 2006. Their credit monitoring services provide all the bells and whistles you would expect at a competitive price. You can subscribe to their monitoring services free for one month to better understand how it works.Randy's Take - myFICO.com
myFICO.com is the website for credit reporting managed by Fair Isaac Corporation (remember the trivia about what FICO stands for?) I have used this service myself for many years and can recommend it to you without hesitation. Reports from all three credit history companies are available here.
Randy's Take - LifeLock
LifeLock offers a $1 million guarantee saying that they will spend up to that amount helping you recover from a stolen identity crime. Their system involves putting fraud alerts on your credit files, ordering your free annual credit report (delivered to you), and providing a free notification/cancellation service if you ever have your wallet stolen. They are so confident in their services that the CEO displays his actual social security number on their website (though advises against the average person doing this).
